Domingo Rubio, who recently partnered Neve Campbell in Robert Altman’s film The Company, is a modern-day renaissance man who is dancer, choreographer, composer, artist, teacher, and pianist. With more than 20 years of continuous dance performance in forums all over the world, Rubio performs in repertoire roles and neo-classical works that are choreographed for him. His dancing is distinguished by his emotional power and partnering skills, which have earned outstanding prizes and fine critiques as a performer and choreographer. He has danced as a principal with The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago where Ana Kissegoff (writing in the New York Times) hailed his performance in Nijinsky’s Afternoon of a Faun as “mesmerizing...marvelously intense”. Rubio most recently portrayed the Count in Dracula, the original one-act ballet recently presented by Ballet Quad Cities. Quad City audiences will see the return of Rubio in The Nutcracker as he dances the role of “Herr Drosselmeyer” during this holiday season.
