Nicholas Garlo

Nicholas Garlo began his technical training in southern Florida. He continued his studies with the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase College in New York, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance and a minor in Arts Management. He recently graduated in May of 2017, Cum Laude with the Bert Terborgh award. During his time there, Nicholas has studied at numerous summer intensives such as Springboard Danse Montreal, Jacob’s Pillow the Contemporary Program, The Netherlands Dance Theater Intensive, Launch with Northwest Dance Project, Arts Umbrella, the Movement Invention Project, and Joffrey Chicago.

Nicholas also received the opportunity to study abroad in Taiwan for five months, where he continued to study and research classical ballet, modern, contemporary, and eastern influenced techniques such as Chinese Opera Kung Fu.

This past summer, Nicholas had the opportunity to rehearse a full evening-length work, Dust, in Berlin and go on to perform the piece at the Suzanne Dellal in Tel-Aviv, Israel. Choreographed by Roderick George, these performances were the first to start of the dance festival in Tel-Aviv.

This is Nicholas’ first season with Ballet Quad Cities and he is incredibly excited to perform with such talented artists and become a member of the company.
